I am new to fondant working but not scared to give it a go...
My son's birthday is coming up and wondering if I was mad to give this a go....
AND if by chance Kathy who made this cake in Aus is online here (I know unlikely but had to ask) Please help me surprise my son
All tips very welcome I have seen how talented you all are so will take any tips.
I hope I am not too late! I find that making figurines with Sugar dough, also known as plastic icing, is not too difficult. Have a look in my gallery to see my Assasin's Creed figurine. I started with the base, Then stuck the hollowed out boots to it. I then inserted the legs. I connected the legs with a ball of icing and continued to build a slender frame for the body with the icing. It has to be "thin" because the clothes add bulk. I then made the head. I cut the clothing and literally dressed him layer by layer, making the hands and swords last. I didn't use any skewers or other supports, so I allowed drying time. One day for the legs, one day for the frame, and so on. It also depends on the weather and humidity.
A 3D cake topper figurine can make even a rather plain cake look fabulous
I think as long as you have some creative streak, you can do this!
Hope I helped
