What's the trick to keeping fondant balls on wires? I want to put some wires with fondant balls on my cake, but I don't want them to fall off. Do I put them on wire then let them dry? Do I add tylose powder? Do I just put them on cake? Please any advise ?

Make sugar glue from tylose powder & water. Dip the end of the wire into the mix then into your fondant. Allow to completely dry before moving.

When you do this what gauge wire do you use? I did stars on wires and they were too heavy and just drooped over...

You definitely have to have the wire be heavy enough gauge to hold the fondant balls, add tylose to the balls, hook the end of the wire, and when inserting the wire, wet it with fondant/tylose/water "gum glue" and then insert into the ball. They need to dry for at least 24 hours but 48 is better.
