I need to make pine cones for a wedding cake due in the next few weeks and am having a hard time getting them to look like real pine cones. Does anyone have an idea's on how I can make these. I need to put them on the corners of each cake. I'm not sure Ilike the chocolate pine cones I have seen on the web. They seem to be too heavy for what I am doing.
Thanks for the help
Sue
Yes, as the link suggests it is best to make them on a sucker stick or plastic drink straw.
They are made somewhat like a rose but with many more rows of petals....the petals are a continous loop around the stick unti it is a big/long as you want. HTH

I followed this and I really liked how they turned out. I have a pic in my photos . They looked very real and everyone commented on them and wanted to take them home and eat them.
They did take quite a while to do them but well worth it.
Hope that helps

sorry, I just went to the page and it said doesn't exsist anymore.
Type in Making chocolate pinecones and a utube video will come up. It's by A Cake to Remember.
It's a great video.
sorry for any confusion

I took a class at the ICES convention with Jennifer Dontz and she instructed us on making pinecones out of modeling chocolate. She sells a mold on her site to help with making them...check it out! Easy and tastes great!
