Thanks guys!

From what I've read on CC and on her blog, FromScratchSF has started to charge for her recipe and it's many variations- as she should because from what I've heard it's awesome and I have no doubt it's worth the small amount she's asking for it! If you go to her site, there is a short request form you can fill out and send in. I did it a few days ago and haven't heard back yet but can imagine she's a a very busy lady. Anyway, you might give that a try :)

Like you, I have tried contacting her to get the white cake recipe (paying for it, of course), and have not heard anything back yet.  I am getting so impatient, as I really want to try her recipe!  Have you heard anything yet?

Ha! I'm so glad I'm not alone:-D No, I haven't heard anything yet. I only sent in my request a few days ago though. I had read one of her posts on another thread that said she was trying to get an instant payment option (like paypal) set up so I was thinking maybe she was working on that before responding. I know if it were me, that would take a while, because I am not a computer whiz- lol. Anyway, I have a cake to do in a few weeks and am hoping to use her recipe but will have to see. Fingers crossed!!

AHi, I was just on her website, and she charges for it, and I couldn't find any place to buy it, so I shall continue my search for a great white cake. Nancy

Nancy

Oh, you're right! I hadn't checked since I filled out the request a few days ago. Looks like she is trying to get a "pay now" type thing up and running. Well, I'll keep checking back. Bet she'll have that going soon :)

cherrycakes, you were the one who originally got me started with the Duncan Hines WASC.  I admit that it isn't as good since they changed the amount you get in each box.  Are you still loving this fromscratchsf recipe?  Do you weigh your ingredients each time or have you converted the recipe to dry measure?  (I don't have a digital kitchen scale).

hapasweets: thank you for posting the link to Jennifer FSSF white cake.  I'm happy to be one of her first customers, as I just made my order.  A chance to learn more about cake baking science, as well as receiving a great recipe from a highly skilled successful decorator is worth it to me.

Baking is a joy and I don't seem to run out of fun recipes and new flavors to try.

Cheers,

mb

Aw thanks gals!!!  I really appreciate your support - this has been a labor of love for so long and I have had a run of jusy absurd bad luck over the past few weeks I thought it would never get done.  Anyway thanks again and feel free to PM any questions you have.

PS  OMG it's expensive to sell that type of thing on Etsy and take credit cards and Paypal and all that other junk.  I'm sad at how high I had to price the item but there are so many corporations with their hands out just to let us little guys on their playground...  so anyway thanks for the support.

Hi FromScratch,

Etsy can be expensive and adding the option to take credit cards just makes it more so! But really, you will probably sell more in the long run accepting credit cards. I had an Etsy shop selling cupcake toppers for a short while, so I remember well. Sometimes I had a hard time keeping track of where the fees were coming from- oy!

Anyway, thank you for putting this together and making it available. Right after I cover this cake board, I'm heading over to Etsy to place my order. Super excited! Thanks again!!!

I had to pull it down - there were some pretty glaring typos.  Man, this past few days has been brutal.  Just brutal!  First my hard drive in my PC completely died.  Then the external back up didn't work, so I'm on a loaner laptop which is great - but none of the programs on it are newer then 2003.  I rushed out the etsy version but pulled it back down because the typos are BAD.  Anyway I'm fixing it and will re-post, and send corrected versions to anyone who has bought one so far.  Ug.  I miss my Cake Central editor that makes me sound so cool for the Cake Genius section of the magazine, because writing for a blog is WAY different then what I was trying to do on my own.  Anyway thanks again for the support!

Did I mention my 2 year old just chucked my new iphone 5s into the toilet yesterday?  Man I am having the worst luck with technology lately. Hahahahaha

That does NOT sound like a fun week! Computer crashes are so stressful, especially when we rely on them so much. And the phone...gotta love a 2 year old :D My daughter once flushed a toothbrush down the toilet. Not as expensive to replace but also not fun to fish out!!!!

And don't worry so much about the typos. I ordered my copy this morning!!! Yes, a few typos but not too bad at all! We are only human :) If you're like me, you will still stress about it but really, you're a great writer. It's not easy to write instructions so clearly that they are understandable to everyone. And you definitely did that! Also- my first batch of your white cake is in the oven as I type! Holy crap- I tasted the batter (at my own risk- lol) and it reminded me very much of a creamy egg nog (I used vanilla beans)!!!!! Maybe a weird comparison but I love eggnog! So, you made my day with this recipe. Thank you thank you for sharing and hang in there!!!!!

Thank you!!!  Well all the peeps that ordered the typo copy will get cleaned up copies, assuming I can figure it out.  Thank you for being understanding, its been a rough day of extra hate mail my way.

AOh No...! I so wanted to buy it! I do have the recipe from the blog from before, but I wanted to ask a couple questions and I wouldn't want to ask without giving you proper retribution first. I hope it's back soon :)

Oh, no, our very own FromScratchSF does not deserve retribution!

ret·ri·bu·tion    ˌretrəˈbyo͞oSHən/   noun

  1. punishment that is considered to be morally right and fully deserved.
"settlers drove the Navajo out of Arizona in retribution for their raids"
synonyms: punishmentpenalty, one's just deserts; More

AOMG! :-o So sorry, English is not my first language, however in Spanish "Retribuir" means "To Give back". I guess I made a transliteration.

And that is what I meant. I'm sorry FromScratchSF!!

I meant to Pay you. :D
