Im new to cake decorating and all the cakes Ive done to date have been used indoors. A friend asked if I could make a ½ sheet cake for an outdoor picnic. Were in Southeast WI and it has been incredibly hot. Before I tell him if I can make it Im trying to figure out what the pitfalls might be. I would be using a buttercream frosting (made w/ shortening) to frost and decorate the cake. There will not be a refridgerator available at the site.
What factors should I be considering that arent on my radar.Please help
Idea: Take a bigger pan, fill with large ice cubes and put a towel over the top. Put the cake on top of that. That should keep it cool enough until you cut and serve.
