Hi,

I am trying to make a spinning moon cake( i know moon doesn't spin, but well) for my nephew
He likes alphabets and loves astronauts. So I was thinking of making some alphabet blocks on the bottom tier, and a spinning moon with astronaut on top of the alphabet blocks.
I have no idea as to what kind of motor to use or where to get it to make the moon spin. I can probably try to build some structure, but any help on that would be great too. At this point I am completely clueless
Help Please! icon_confused.gif

You need something like the motor part of an old record player turntable (remember those?) You will have to build a wooden dummy to sit under that cake to contain the turntable, and to hide the power cord.

Look on ebay "turntable motor" but choose the one that has the best power cord as well as what fits your budget. You may have to add a plug which only takes a screwdriver to install. Basically, once you get the motor, take it to your local hardware and they will sell you the right plug.

Wow thanks...!! I ll look into it. It sounds kind of intimidating, but I am going to give it a try.
