I'm making hay bale cake's for a wedding next weekend. On the bottom of each one will be a cake dummy to get the right look for the cake, but I'm not sure how to put it together exactly. Do I put the cake directly on the cake dummy or do you put something between the cake dummy and the cake. I was going to put a cake board between but I am nervous about it moving and ruining the look but I wasn't sure if its very sanitary to put the cake directly on the cake dummy. Any ideas???

I did the exact same thing on a hay bale last year. I wrapped the dummy in saran wrap and then put the cake, on it's own board, on top of that. I secured it with icing and it didn't move at all.
