Hi icon_smile.gif
My3 older sisters & I planning my parents 50th wedding anniversary party & my sisters have given me the huge honor of making their cake. I have the design, with a lot of inspiration from all of you wonderful people here on CC but I feel that a beautiful cake should have a beautiful cake stand as well. I see such pretty stands all over here but where can them?
Thank you one & all for any help you can give me!

I've recently found this site: http://sarahsstands.com/ . I love the look of the stands, a bit pricey though so I haven't been able to justify buying one - yet icon_smile.gif .

Those fancy metal cake stands cost a LOT. I don't know if they are in your budget.

Take a look at some antique shops. Many of them sell silver plated trays that might be big enough to hold a cake on the flat part. You might get some handy metalworker to add feet to the underside to make the cake look better on the table.

Anyway make sure there is a layer of cardboard under the cake so that the knife won't scratch the cake stand.

How big of a stand do you need? What size is your bottom tier?

you should try this on i heart nap time, she made a brass chandelier into a cake stand. I bought my chandelier at the good will for about 7 dollars and you just need to buy some paint from HD or Lowes, although i have not made mine yet, but I will as soon as I get some free time.

here is the link:

Thank you all so much for all the great websites & the other ideas, which are also fantastic because that's something I would have NEVER thought of myself! thumbs_up.gif
To Mb20fan, I am so sorry! You were so right to ask me those questions. I'm embarrassed that I didn't even think to give all you sweet people that basic information. The bottom tier is either going to be a 12" or 14" round.

Hobby Lobby has a silver/nickel cake plateau that is 14" and you can use a 40% off coupon, when the item is not on sale. Just an idea. I ordered mine online b/c we don't have a Hobby Lobby store near me. The link below shows it's on sale right now for $37.49. I have not had a chance to use mine yet, so I cannot give my own personal review. But there are 4 reviews on the site and those 4 reviews give it a 5 out of 5 star rating. HTh...

Check the local wedding rental places. Ours have an assortment of cake stand shapes and sizes that are available to rent.

You might find this thread interesting:
Also you can search Google Images for "diy cake stand" and "home-made cake stand" if you want to make one.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. Contact all the "party" stores in your area and see if they have them for rent. If they do not, ask them who in town rents fancy cake stands. You can google "wedding supplies", or "party supplies" near Whitehall. Here's what came up on my trial google:

You can also google: cake stand rental, Allentown, Pennsylvania

You'll get lots of companies.

How lovely that you and your sisters are going all out on the Anniversary celebration.
