I'm making a 50th wedding cake, and I have seen cakes with actual metalic gold icing that looks like it's been piped on, but I can't find out what this product is. I have gold luster dust, but this can't possibly be what is used. It there something I can buy online somewhere that I can get this icing effect? Thanks!

There are two ways that I know of to achieve the metallic look. One way is to do the piping using royal icing and, then once it's hard, you can paint it with gold luster dust mixed with vodka or lemon juice. The other way is to do your decorations with fondant or gumpaste and then, once they are dry/hard to the touch, paint them with the same mixture: gold luster dust mixed with either vodka or lemon juice.
