Everytime I cover a cake in fondant I get budlging/dragging at the bottom of my cake within a shoft period of time. I dont have too much trouble in between layers, its more just the bottom. I was wondering if anyone had advice. Also, I've heard different things of when to refridgurate or not to (some say refridgurate after crumb coat but not actually icing and some say do..) and I'm left a bit confused. So if anyone has any tips as well as a step-by-step of how to prep the cake before applying fondant that would be awesome!!!
Fondant will settle a little , but you are probably rolling your fondant a bit thick. Also your cake may not be completely straight sided.
You may have too much icing or your icing is too soft and it's sliding down and gathering at the bottom. Been there, done that many, many times.
