I am doing a wedding cake next week and the customer asked for real ribbon around the bottom of the tiers. I was wondering how the bride will cut the cake during the "ceremonial" cake cutting. I don't want to take the ribbon off because the pictures will look weird, but I don't want her to have to cut through the ribbon. Suggestions?
The cake is usually cut in the back or off to the side so could you just leave a gap of 1/2 inch where the ribbon meets? The bride would just have to line the knife up to go in the gap.
