I need help with a standing lion armature. I have googled it but nothing much came up. If someone has done one please give me some guidance about how to make the stand and also what to use to make the head... modeling chocolate or rice krispies or foam? any help is appreciated.
thanks thumbs_up.gif

How big of a cake? Is the lion the cake, or a figurine that goes on to the cake?

if you are just making the lion figure to attach to your cake, you can use toothpicks or small gauge wire for the armature-if the lion is the cake, i would use pvc for an internal structure along with mdf or plywood, RKT for the head (lighter than cake) and covering with modeling chocolate is great for the head, great for details. hth

I would build a wooden frame

Screws, dowels and a wooden base that sits on the dowels.

Something like this

That pic is not my cake. I found it online to use as an example for you in picture form.

My feeling would be to do the head out of RKT simply because I could take my time and get the facial details right. I like to have all of those details done befor the cake sculpting day.
