I need to make a wedding cake and am wondering what the best frosting recipe is for making white roses. I want to make them in advance and would like them to harden slightly. I am not interested in using fondant as I am very unfamiliar with it. Thanks in advance for reading and responding.

Any ol' buttercream recipe will do. Just make sure you stiffen it up with extra powdered sugar so the petals don't droop.

I prefered to make 99% of my flowers with b'cream. If you use a crusting b'cream recipe make sure it is on the stiff consistency side. If you let them dry at least overnight at room temp, UNcovered, they should be firm enough to handle w/just a bit of care.
