What are the feelings about the cricut machines? What is the advantage of the mini or regular size?
Thanks,
Sandy
neither, its a waste of money. Mine sits in my garage after being used twice. I think a lot of cake decorators feel like it is cheating as well, I can always tell when one has been used and it cheapens the cake.
I am looking to get a cutting machine also and the research that I have found is that the silhouette cutter looks more functional, the cricut is limited to just their cartridges but the s i l h o u e t t e connects to your computer so you can actually create and dowload custom designs. It is more expensive but will pay for itself in the long term.
I also thought it was cheating in the beginning, but the bottom line is the most beautiful cake for your client. Technology allows us to expand our creativity and improve the overall outcome of our products. Go back 100 years and ask those bakers what they think about "The Mat", microwaves, hand held mixers or a kitchenaid!

As someone who has seen the results up close, the results are not nearly as nice as doing it the old-fashioned way.
That is what I love about CC it gives us a safe place to express our opinions in a non-judgemental and fun format. With regards to the professional results using a die cutting machine, we'll just have to agree to disagree. For the bakers who like to use the die cutting machines and really like the crisp and clean intricate designs and letters, my vote is for the Silhouette.
Personally I LOVE my cricut! I use it mainly for letters/fonts. I bought mine back in november when cricutmachine .com had them for 49.00 (the regular sized ones).
Love love love it!
