How do I get that tall skinny look to a wedding cake? I know prob 6inch high layers, is that hard to do? and what size rounds do you use? should they increase by 2in each layer to give it that slender look?? HELP!

The "tower" look is something like 6/8/10/12/14. That gives a tall skinny look to the cake. It was all the rage a few years ago.

If you want 6" tiers, just bake taller layers or use more layers per tier.

But also think and plan ahead for serving the cake. Normal dessert plates are 5" (possibly 6") in diameter. if you're making this for an event where the client will be renting/buying plates, you'll need dinner plates for the dessert.

Simple answer is to make more 2" layers - 3 for a 6" tall cake.
Do take into consideration what leah said about serving those tall cakes icon_smile.gif

Best way around all issues is to make two 3" tall cakes, use support and doweling inside, and ice over as one cake. You can easily access all of the servings, they fit on any plate, and the cake is sturdier.

Just like KoryAK, but use a cake board between the two 3" sections.
