Do you think the color was dusted or painted on with alcohol? Just ordered a set of PME veined Ivy cutters to attempt the ivy. Do you think they used dusts or brushed on gel colors. Thank you.

I am very new to cake decorating so propably not the right person to answer this LOL.
However, it looks like the colour was painted on the leaves, so probably a gel colour. The lillies are not so obvious.....there is a nice gradation of colour, more so than on the ivy, so the lillies may have been coloured with petal dusts. As for which colours, I have no idea icon_smile.gif
Good luck!

Crazboutcakes did you mix the dusts with alcohol or just dust them on?

Actually I just mixed the dust in a small container and applied it just like that with nothing else on them and than steamed them to set the color and what you see is the product of that. My only suggestion to you would be is make sure you mix enough color so that you do not have to try to match it if you run out! That can be a little tricky. icon_biggrin.gif

It looks like petal dust... Probably burgundy and pink mixed and blended with brush strokes. On the edges it looks like the same pink but toned down, which can be achieved by adding some corn starch.
You can leave aside a petal just to practice before you dust the actual flower.
Once you are happy with the result just steame it for a few seconds.
Good luck! thumbs_up.gif
