The vodka will actually evaporate so no one will taste the alcohol. You can also use lemon juice instead of vodka. I have used vodka many times on my cakes & no one ever noticed.

We don't drink in our house. We eat fruit cake preserved with brandy and decorations painted with colors mixed with vodka or brandy. We do not taste the alcohol in the cakes.

Clear vanilla works. It takes longer to dry but it works.

Do you have to airbrush them couldn''t you just dust them with petal dust and steam them if the alcohol is such a concern.
