I used this recipe from food network but for some reason I can't get them to spread?? Any ideas what I am doing wrong?? I did use 1 cup m&m but that is all I have changed. I have tried another recipe for monster cookies and have the same problem is it because I am using real butter??

3 eggs
1 1/4 cups packed light brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 12-ounce jar creamy peanut butter
1 stick butter, softened
1/2 cup multi-colored chocolate candies
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup raisins, optional
2 teaspoons baking soda
4 1/2 cups quick-cooking oatmeal (not instant)

Who's recipe is it?

Definitely butter is not the problem. I have never used anything but butter.

What do you mean by spreading?

Yes, what do you mean by spreading? Recipe looks fine. 2 teaspoons baking soda should give a nice spread. Check to see that you used baking soda and not baking powder (or something else) by accident.
