Hey everyone,

So I am part of a cake decorating club at my university and am looking to purchase buttercream in bulk from a bakery for an event we have coming up. At this event there will be (16) 5x3 Round one layer cakes that will need to be iced. I do not need any buttercream for decorating with since we will be using fondant but I wanted to know how much I should buy.

I have been looking at various sources online that recommend around 1.5-2 cups of frosting per cake. Is this accurate? How many pounds does this end up being/should I buy?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks so much!

That seems about right.( It may actually be too much, cause those are pretty small cakes.) Order that amount; as a member of the club the excess'll be used up eventually...

I'd estimate 13 lbs. or a little less than.

Great! Thanks so much both of you, I think I may buy around 13 pounds if not a little more just to be safe! :p
