Wedding Cake?

I'm making an outdoor wedding cake and the groom is making/cutting down tree stumps for the cake to go onto. I will have 3 cakes, 8-10-12 and each will be 4" high. My question is how tall should each of the tree stumps.

That depends on what look you're going for. I wouldn't go over 6", but it's really up to you. One thing you need to keep in mind, though, is that wood is heavy. When you get up over 3-4", you're getting into some weighty stuff.
