Hello, I am a first time cake decorator and I am finding myself stumped with my latest task. I am trying to make a guitar shaped chocolate cake. I will be trying to use fondant over a dark chocolate ganache. I have almost all of the decoration accents planned but I can't think of anything to use to show the wire on the guitar. A friend told me to use white fondant rolled into a very thin string and then to spray it with silver color mist? Someone else offered a suggestion of trying to use floral wire? I would like the entire cake to be edible but any suggestions that anyone may have would be great! Thanks.

Hi jessb24,

Welcome to the wonderful madness of caking!! I haven't made any guitar cakes but have read on here that some use thin spaghetti sprayed/painted with edible silver. Maybe that would work for you?

Thanks ladij153. That would defiantly give me nice crisp lines for the strings. I will have to practice that and see how it turns out prior to me starting this project. Thank you.

Hi jessb24, I remember reading somewhere that you can use dental floss, although it is not edible, it must be foodsafe as you use it to clean your teeth, if nothing else works you could give this a try - you would need to spray or dust it with some silver. icon_biggrin.gif
