Can thawed buttercream be refrozen and used later?

I've done it. I was sure that it had been handled properly while defrosted as far as refrigeration (if necessary), not contaminating it with crumbs, etc.

I often re-freeze leftovers of dark colors to use for borders & accents.

Knock wood, no problems so far. It does require some stirring to re-incorporate it, but it works.

I do it all the time. I keep leftover black and other dark colours. Often I just need a little for eyes, or flower centers. So I keep them in my freezer, when I need it I take it out, thaw it, stir it, use it, put it back in the freezer for next time. Easier than making up a tiny bit each time. icon_smile.gif

Never had a problem yet. Hope that helps.
