Anyway To Make An Angry Birds Cake Legally?
Decorating By Krista512 Updated 30 Mar 2012 , 2:09pm by Pebbles1727
is there any way to make an angry birds cake legally without the worry of illigally copying the copyrighted characters? I have looked online for an angry birds party pack but I cant find anything other than the themed rings, not really what im looking for. unless it would be legal to make a grass covered cake with a sling shot and some boxes and put the rings on as the figures. but it may look not so great that way.. any advice
If you are making the cake for someone as a gift then you can do the angry bird design. If you are making it for pay, then it is illegal.
Here is a post that you made a week ago, so I thought you were quitting. Are you quitting or not?
ok i think i get the point. Im done doing cakes for now. I will just make my car payment money selling all my pans and tools. its easier. ill work on cakes once the kids are in school. I obviously dont have a clue and people sending me emails are making things very confusing telling me that I can have a website and i can NOT give donation cupcakes to fire fighters and such. so I am not going to put my familys current income at risk for being sued. Good luck to you all that have made it work.

According to US copyright law, it does not matter whether the item is sold commercially or given as a gift, it would still be infringement.
My suggestion would be try to contact Rovio, the makers of Angry Birds, and ask for permission: http://www.rovio.com/en/about-us/contact
If they do not grant permission you can use individual licensed figurines, you should be able to find them just about anywhere.
thanks jason I think thats what I will have her do. buy some angry bird toys and I will place them on the cake for her.
you are right it is against the law to make any copyrighted character theme be it for sale, a gift or even for your self. I have even refused to make my own daughter a yu-gi-oh carved cake for her birthday since i would want to place pictures of her party on facebook.
thanks for all your helpful answers.

This is irrelevant to the question, and unnecessary bullying. She also doesn't need to explain herself to you.

i agree...I tried to just report it as a bad post but there was some bug code :p
That post has already been reported (you can tell because the report button is no longer there), it's probably best to just ignore posts like that in the future (as the OP did).

I am sorry for putting the wrong info out there. For some reason I thought that it was ok if it was for a gift. I won't make that mistake again.

Bullying??? Seriously??? Some people are just to sensitive. I am just asking a question based on a comment by the OP. No she does not have to answer to me, and I didn't think she would. It was a rhetorical question. If you have read some of her posts you will see that she says one thing and does the complete opposite. She has me confused. Case in point below.

So, if she knew it was illegal (since she refused to make her daughters yu-gi-oh cake) then why in the world did she even ask the question??? Again, she baffles me.

He,he,he. So reminds me of jr. high.
Anyway, everyone has their own opinion and everyone is entitled to it. You have yours and I have mine. It's one of the things that makes the world go round. Done.
Omg seriously... I won't make a sculpted cake for my daughter. Just like I won't make a cake with sculpted figures on it. My question was other ways ie part packs but I can't find any at out bake shop for angry birds. Stop being an instigator.

I think it's a valid question... one I would have asked as well. I didn't see anything wrong with asking, especially after all the talk about quitting.
Wow, see this thread is the example we're talking about in this thread: cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopic-741526-60.html
Ffs, WHAT DOES IT MATTER IF SHE'S QUITTNG!????? Does it make a difference to your answer??? If you are annoyed she's still asking for help despite showing an interest in quitting, THEN DONT RESPOND.
Sheesh!

If you're implying that you don't contribute to the bullying, I'm not convinced.

I'm surprised that Unlimited let this one go while you were having your fun saying "You're all wrong", not answering when you were first asked if you were joking but later claimed it was a joke because you used a and a , then made another insult AND admitted you were being rude!
I suppose we should all educate our children that it's okay to say whatever you want as long as you smile while saying it or use a and a .

Back to the original question. According to Rovio's CEO, copyright infrigement is encouraged for Angry Birds as it raises the awareness of the app. I thought it was interesting.
i can see that Pebbles...there have been MULTIPLE forms of the Angry Birds cake and a lot of those games don't care about stuff being replicated because it just brings more interest to the game.
Indeed, Rovio actually have been in the news quite a bit because of their unorthodox approach to copyright. Angry Birds is the only character cake/cupcakes I agree to make.
