I have made a tea set for my grandmothers birthday and made it out of RKT covered in fondant and gum paste and the tea cup out of gum paste. She wants to be able to display it without getting any dust on it. Is it ok to put it under a glass cake dome?

I think maybe a glass dome, although ideal for viewing your work, would be too airtight. The thing that keeps fondant and gumpaste dry is exposure to the air. I have several fondant and gumpaste articles in my china hutch with no other covering at all and they have stood up for several years. The two things you need to do is keep them from the dust and keep them from excess light, because light will cause them to fade. Perhaps you could find a clear plastic box (these aren't usually that airtight) that will do the job.
