Hello,

I need some advice. I have to create a Super Galaxy Cake for this weekend. I have to sculpt a Mario and a sphere. I have been trying to find a tutorial on how to create "Mario." Should I make it out of gumpaste or out of rice crispy treats? Any suggestions I appreciate it.

Thanks,

Hi Patty. I guess it depends on how big you need your mario. Larger figures and pieces, I prefer to use RKT, smaller ones, 50/50 mix of fondant and gum paste. HTH.

Hi nicunurse,

The Mario has to be small. You mentioned the 50/50 mixture. When doing this, are you using home made fondant or store bought? I usually make my own fondant. I have some gumpaste that I bought at michael's. I guess I can mix these together and try to sculpt the figure out. Thank you.

Yes, you can use mmf and gum paste together. I do find that mmf is softer then wilton so most of the time I use wilton and gum paste, especially if the figure needs to stand. icon_smile.gif
