I want to know what is sprinkled on top of these cupcakes? Working on an order for a wedding but do not want to suggest these until I know what was used.
Thanks!

At first, I thought it was just the slightly larger-sized-crystal than usual sugar.

BUT

it could also be ground down magic sparkles (a completely edible alternative to the so-called 'edible' glitter)

How about fine coconut?

It looks like grated coconut to me too. I buy organic, unsweetened coconut and it is in tiny grated pieces like that.,.nothing like the sweetened shredded coconut you usually buy at the grocery store.

I wonder if it could be large sugar crystals. When I've used them on frosting they tend to lose a little of their sparkle that you see in this pic:

I guess I could use either. I'm not a coconut fan so I would lean towards the sprinkles. I guess I will suggest and leave it up to the client. Thanks!!

Sparkling sugar is my guess. I use a lot of it.

looks like it may be coconut mixed with sparkling sugar.

It's sanding sugar or shimmering sugar (same thing I believe).

Like this:

It's not coconut.

I think it's a combination of the edible glitter and coconut flakes.

It doesn't say anything in their book about it being coconut flakes. This same picture is in their (Georgetown Cupcake) book. You could call and ask them! Someone on here called and asked about a fondant decoration once and they gave her the answer.
