Help! Has anyone covered an angel food cake with fondant? I have never done this and I have an order to use angel food cake 2 tiered and covered with fondant. Just curious how it holds up after being stacked and having the fondant and decorations are on it. Also does anyone have an awesome sour cream angel food cake recipe? Appreciate your ideas and suggestions. Thanks.
I have never done it, but I have an angel food cake that has a ganache coating. Maybe this would make the cake a little sturdier.
My recipes would not handle the manipulation or the weight, but someone may have one.
I have never seen an angel food cake that would stand up to fondant. Covering in ganache might help, but it would have to be super thin, and even then I'm not so sure. It is just a very soft item.
