I would love to do cake decorating full time but also need a good income. Is it possible to do both? I live in South Africa and for me a good salsry would be in the region of R10 000 per month ( not sure how much that is in dollars but I think it is about 1000 dollars a month. Any input would be valued. icon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gif

it is possible to do it in SA, depending on where you live and what type of cakes you will be doing. if you are in a smaller town that doesnt have a lot of weddings you will struggle. Im in JHB close to a lot of wedding venues so summer months I can get a good income. Also if you are going to specialise in wedding cakes its do-able, with only birthday cakes you will struggle to make that amout.
Ps also keep in mind that it is not going to happen overnight. it took me about 2 years to break into the market, so during that period dont expect top money. If possible do it as a side line until you are established.
