I am trying to do a My Little Pony cake for my daughter and I am not sure if what I want to do is possible or a disaster waiting to happen. I want to do a 9" decorated layer cake then on top take one layer of an 8" cake and cut it into a rainbow shape, decorated with bc and MnMs for the rainbow colors and stand it up on the 9" layers like a rainbow. Will this be too top heavy??? Should I use a dowl??
I am no expert in cake decorating and sometimes I come up with overly ambitious ideas when my skill level is simple.
Help, her party is in 3 days!! icon_surprised.gif

Don't cut it into a rainbow shape. Just cut it in half, stand it up, use dowel rods to anchor it in place, and decorate like a rainbow but leave the center part blue like the sky. Or make a rainbow out of fondant and let it dry for a couple of days then put it on shortly before the party. That way you know it won't fall over. Good luck!
