Does anyone have a cheap recipe they use for their bulk orders? My recipes all have lots of butter/eggs etc and I'm trying to hunt up something a bit cheaper. I'm thinking an oil based recipe would be good?

Thanks everyone!

Try searching depression cakes. That's when whacky cake came about. (chocolate cake using no dairy or eggs, simple, cheap and tasty) Can't say I know of any vanilla cakes like that though. I like the taste of butter, eggs and real vanilla, lol.

In another thread I posted a yellow cake recipe that uses oil. http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=7256774&highlight=#7256774 It's quite tasty, simple to make, and is much cheaper than my all-butter recipe.

I don't know of a cheap cake recipe but here's a suggestion that might help: Do you buy your ingredients in bulk? If not, you may be able to keep your current recipes at a lower cost to you. I recently started buying things like flour and butter in bulk and it has made a huge difference in my COGS. HTH.
