Anyone have any suggestions for flavoring a cake or frosting to taste like Dr. Pepper. I know you can order "dr. pepper" flavoring oils but was wondering if you could use the actually soda to flavor anything??

My four-year old son has requested a Dr. Pepper themed party. . . fun!!

The Dr (no period) Pepper flavor will not be noticeable after baking - - heat will destroy the taste. If it's the taste you're after, I would recommend going with the flavoring oils. HTH

Thanks for the link jgifford. Just as I had suspected. My little one may just have to settle for having his cake to look but not taste like Dr. Pepper.

Thanks again

My Coca Cola cake doesn't taste like Coca Cola, it is just more mellow.

Just a suggestion... if you reduce the Dr Pepper before use, or really reduce it (80 to 90%), you will get a very concentrated taste and the water will be gone. That's what I do. I don't like flavorings and it is so easy to make the flavoring yourself.
