I am fairly new to decorating and I was wondering when I paint on a cake do I have to add vodka to my coloring. I have read a few posts stating to do this but was wondering if there is another way? Any suggestions would help. Thanks so much.

You can also use a clear extract...a lot of people use lemon.

I actually prefer lemon extract. I think it dries faster than vodka.

If I am using pastes/gels/dusts I use everclear.

But my favorite 'paint' to use is airbrush colors. They are alraedy thinned down and ready to use.

I just started to paint on fondant cut outs and little flowers. I found out that it is much easier with airbrush colors. The only bad thing is that they only come in large size bottles and I am only a hobbyist at this therefore it will last me forever the ones that I have !!! I am planning in buying more colors just in case so I will be ready if I need them!!! I like to be prepareicon_lol.gif and I just love buying cake stuff icon_redface.gificon_redface.gif

Ciao

Soledad, you can order the Americolor "student kit" which I believe is 12 small airbrush bottles, various colors. Try Amazon.
