Ok..silly question, and its probably more of personal taste..but when you make a cake that is vanilla base do you cover it w/ vanilla buttercream then fondant? and then if you do a chocolate cake would you cover that in chocolate buttercream, than fondant? basically does it matter if you use vanilla or chocolate frosting under the fondant?
You can use chocolate frosting under white fondant but you have to make sure it's firm. I prefer chocolate ganache under fondant because it sets up better and if I have to adjust my fondant it makes less of a mess.
But vanilla or chocolate frosting on a vanilla or chocolate cake is the customers decision.
My favorite flavor combo is WASC with chocolate ganache. My brother in law loves chocolate cake with vanilla frosting.
