Could anyone tell me if it is possible to tint prepared whip cream with gel colors? I don't want to destroy a batch if its going to react to the gel.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know that it will react badly, per se. But stirring the color in might deflate the cream. What if you add the tint to the cream, then whip it? Also, might want to use a candy color...more fat soluble, since cream has such a high fat content.

Any food coloring should work (oil or water based) and yes, you would want to add it during the whipping process not after you're done (since it will then be over-whipped). Keep in mind you will not be getting deep colors like red and black, but nice pastel shades.
