4" Cake Pan

For those of you that use 4" cake pans...I'm wondering when you go to ice the cake do you split the cake in half and fill with a filler or do you just ice without splitting it. It seems like a lot of cake with very little icing. May just be me tho.

I usually split mine. Most of the time I add one more split layer to bring my cakes up to 5".

After trying it with and without the filing, I prefer with.
