I have only ever used american buttercream or cream cheese frosting for cupcakes and need to use IMBC this weekend.
I have a recipe that says it makes 4.5 cups. How many cupcakes will this frost?
OR what are the proportions of your ingredients and how many cupcakes does your recipe frost? Thanks so much!
I use Warren Brown's recipe, it does 24 cupcakes. Hmmm.... I think from memory he claims it will make 4-5 cups of icing, so I would guess that your recipe would produce the same amount.
It depends on how much frosting you put on each cupcake, but I make SMBC with 6 egg whites and 3 sticks of butter and it usually frosts 24-30 cupcakes. When I do a tall swirl it frosts about 18.
I have found that 1/4 to 1/3 cup is needed per cupcake, depending upon how big of a swirl you want.
