How do you attach real fabric ribbon to a buttercream & fondant cake? Can you use those needles/pins with the little pearls on the ends?

No needles in the cake!! someone might eat it!! You just put it around the cake and then attach the two end with a bit of buttercream.

I've used a straightpin to attach ribbons, but I was the one there to help cut the cake...charmed makes a good point about the danger....but maybe rotal icing would work too- since it dries rock hard.

I have always used corsage pins to hold the ribbon in place until it's finished being decorated. Then you can secure it with a dab of buttercream.
