How do I take a stencil,that's drawn out on parchment and score a fondant covered cake?

Poke a toothpick or a clean needle through the parchment along the lines of the stencil.

You can do it either way. I usually just trace over.

Dragging usually mashes the paper and the cake under it, because you need more force. And it can cause the paper the shift, which can mess up your design. I dot it because it doesn't mash or shift the paper.
