I think that the agent wanted the cupcakes. Esp since the "These look delicious comment" was made. Humph
It was in a glass jar. I can understand why it could be an issue.
Personally, if I hadto give up my right to travel with a cupcake in a glass jar for the sake of safety, I could handle it.
Gee whiz....now cupcakes are a threat. I'm flying next week-end, I'll have to watch out for threatening cupcakes.
I would have thought the glass jar was the threat but there was no mention of that. A CUPCAKE???? REALLY????

I agree, but it their own regulations say cakes and cupcakes are okay. Seems less likely that it was an actual threat, and more like a person on a power trip.
"Hains said the frosting and the glass container were what raised concerns for the TSA.
He explained to me that the frosting constitutes a gel-like substance and part of the way that he had arrived at this decision apparently was that it was in a container in which it conformed to the containers shape. I offered to take it out and put it in a zip-lock bag on the spot and he said no I cant let you touch it. So once he had identified it as a security threat it was no longer mine and I couldnt have it back, said Hains."

It does sound like the TSA agent was being a little more particular about it than it could have been, but honestly I eer on the side of caution. Even normal looking people can do horrific things.
