I have been researching online for pricing info and either I can't find any or its too confusing.. I need to know how to charge for fondant vs butter cream,, and what to charge for each layer. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I find it's best to charge per serving. What I did when I started out was check out what some local bakers were charging. I also worked out what it costs me to make cakes. Sort of averaged out the two and came up with prices. In my area bakers are charging any where between $3.35-$4.50 per serving. Usually closer to $4.50 for fondant covered. I also charge extra if I have to make flowers etc., and also to deliver. HTH

How much does it cost you to make a cake?

How much is your time worth? How long does it take you to do a cake?

How much profit do you want to make?

While it helps to know what other people are charging, you have to know if you are charging enough to cover YOUR costs. Everyone's costs vary, from city to city and with in a city.

I believe in price per serving, but you can also charge per tier. It's the same thing, just worded differently.
