Gourmet Cupcake Flavor? With Smbc

Hello all,

So I've just made my 1st batch of SMBC and I love it! I am a teacher and would love to bring a nice treat back to work on Monday when we all go back to school.

I would like to use the SMBC but I'm looking for a really gourmet tasting cupcake??? Any suggestions out there that you love and are willing to share recipes for?

Some of my favourites are mocha buttercream... but no idea how to make it? And I guess it would go good with a moist chocoalte cake???

Anyway, someone please help me wow my co-workers and give them a treat as we all return back to work icon_smile.gif

I have Mocha cupcakes with espresso buttercream on my to do list.
Would this work?

That would be wonderful... teachers all love coffee right!!!

would you mind sharing your recipe? Also, does the cupcake have a nice chocolate taste?

I have a ton of, in my opinion, gourmet cupcakes on my menu. Take a look, some might inspire you - almost all made with SMBC icon_biggrin.gif

mocha cupcakes with espresso or mocha buttercream would be great..... I'd also love a really good devil's food type chocolate cake??? there are so many to choose from on here :S

I don;t do a mocha cake, but I do an espresso cake with mocha buttercream. I just add Nielson Massey espresso extract to my existing white cake, and make a chocolate SMBC with the same espresso extract in it.

For a good easy scratch chocolate cake, I recommend One Bowl Chocolate by Martha Stewart. Super easy. Google for the recipe, it's posted on her website. The better quality cocoa powder you use the better this cake tastes.

The Hershey's recipe on the back of the can is awesome too. I like using their dark cocoa powder and the cake is almost black. I also use coffee in place of the liquid because it deepens the chocolate flavor.

I got Toba Garrett's book for Christmas and fell in love with her chocolate fudge cake taste like a brownie!! ( The well decorated cake)
