Need Help With Mascarpone Buttercream

Hello ladies!
I really need some help. I do not have enough butter thumbsdown.gif ...shame on me... to cover the cake from outside. can I add some mascarpone( I have in the house) to my buttercream??? It will affect the fondant on top???
Please help!

Mascarpone is cream cheese. I have never mixed it with buttercream. It may taste good, but is not a replacement for butter.

Yes, use it. I have made cream cheese icing by just substituting the cheese for the butter. It works very well.

You can add shortening in place of butter - - it doesn't have that buttery taste, but it's whiter and it will stand up better.
