Does anyone have a good recipe for royal icing if you dont have the merengue powder on hand? I have never made it before and Im going to be using it to add a bow to a cake im making so I need a very strong one! Any ideas would be great!
Thanks!

Why not just use real egg whites?

You can use powder egg whites or Wilton Color Flow (which is powder egg whites). I wouldn't use raw egg whites unless you have pasteurized ones. There is always a risk of salmonella. If you are looking for something strong to hold a bow on you could try clear piping gel or gum glue. I have even mixed clear piping gel with a little gum glue and have made a very sticky paste. You can use some toothpicks inserted on an angle to hold the bow until the piping gel sets. When toothpicks are inserted at an angle you won't see the hole.
