I've been trying to make snowflake molds for isomalt for the last two weeks. I tried using different patterns in playdough but having a tough time. is there something better to make a mold? or do you think a regular craft store would have baking silicone molds? how can I tell if it will hold up to the isomalt?
What temp should I be aiming for ?
thanks for any advice ... the cake is due the ed of this week so I'm running out of time! UGH
maybe press your design pattern into corn starch on a flat surface?

pretty sure not enough time to order online
sigh I tried the cornstarch but it stuck to the isomalt and actually burnned it in the center? that was wierd?
What kind of molding can I buy at a craft store?
I use the amazing putty from the craft store to make my molds. The silicone putty Dominic has works well too. I used my PME snowflake cutters to make the molds. I think there are also snowflake silicone molds in the cake section of my craft store also, they will work for isomalt too.
If you have near you a candy-making store, or any store with hard-candy molds, look for snowflakes there. They are designed to take the high temperature of melted sugar, so the should work for isomalt.
If you decide to order some for future use, Etsy has lots of silicon snowflake molds, and numerous cake/candy suppliers on the web sell the hard-candy molds.
