I want to try carving a cake for the first time. I'm pretty sure that my usual cake recipes, which are very fluffy and light will not be good for this. What is the best recipe to use? A plain chocolate or vanilla cake recipe is what I need.
(I'm sure that this has been discussed multiple times, but I'm just learning how to navigate this site and I couldn't find the answers that I was looking for.)

Pound cake works best. Carve while it is still partly frozen.
