Is there any way that I can make a peony without the use of cutters? I am making a cake for my aunty's engagement and she only gave me a week's notice. So if I bought the cutters, they wouldn't arrive in time..

TIA for all your help!

You could try using the template from Martha Stewart for the Paper Peony. I tried it this past Mother's Day. I made my peony from 50/50 mix of Wilton Fondant and my gumpaste I make. I should have let the petals fall open more. You could use white card stock for your template to cut out the petals with a exacto-knife. I hope this help!

There are some tutorials with peony cutters and without:

Those peonies are made with a heart cutter:

Do you have the 5 petal rose cutter? I used that for a faux peony.

You can see it here

There is a close up of the flower towards the bottom. Definately not a true peony but worked for what I needed. If you have the cutter let me know and I'll send you more details.

AI made a frilly peoni-ish flower the other day using regular teardrop cutters. I notched out little bits around the edges of each petal with the pointy end of the cutter, then rolled each petal side to side and out to give width and extra length. Then frilled it. The notches helped to give the petals extra frill.

It's not perfect, I have a LONG ways to go with it, and I will end up buying cutters to avoid the hassle of making all the cuts. But anyways, it's an interesting flower none the less. I'll be using rhinestone centers for stamens as well. Have a few to make for a wedding in about a year and half from now. I love huge frilly flowers, and I don't think they have to conform to any botanical standards either.

Hi, I was planning to order the Peony Cutter and Viener from Petal Crafts, has any one used them, would like to have a review before I buy the product.
