I have a couple of Betty Crocker Hershey Chocolate cake mixes that my mom brought back for me but they require 1 cup of butter in place of oil..Can I use oil instead of wasting butter and if so how much?

Thanks thumbs_up.gif

I believe you can subsitute it 1 for 1. I know I've used melted butter instead of oil in cake mixes and it's come out fine.

Butter is 80% fat and the rest milk solids and water. Oil is 100% fat. Simple math should fix you up.

I've had butter recipe cake once, and it tasted burnt. Butter burnsI wouldn't waste the butter either, I'd use oil instead.
