I want to make Michelle Foster's fondant, but I am wondering when to add color. Any ideas?
I generally add color, paste or gel, at the same time I incorporate the lukewarm liquid. Further adjustments can be kneaded in later, if desired. Knead the color into a small amounts of fondant, then knead them all together to achieve a uniform color. Sometimes I use powdered colors and then I just mix them in with the initial powdered sugar. All the methods seem to work for me. Keep in mind the colors deepen when the fondant ripens.
