I'm wondering if just a regular glue gun would do the same thing and a Sassie Shot which is $53.
From my understanding it is supposed to be a lot safer than trying to use a regular glue gun (sugar drips and can spatter from a regular glue gun?). I ordered one at ICES, but have yet to receive mine. It was originally supposed to ship in October, but the last I heard it was supposed to ship in early December. I really hope I get it soon so I can try it out.

No problem. Just an update, apparently the SassieShotz people are way behind schedule because I still haven't received it yet, despite the promise of October, then November, then December, then early January delivery. As of the last contact it is supposed to be shipped by then end of the month....we'll see. So if you order one be prepared for a major delay in receiving it.
I purachsed mine also and have been waiting patiently since October also...Can't wait..Sure hope they hurry up and get them out!!
I ordered one at the ices convention. I have never received it. I don,t hear from them, unless i send e-mail asking what is going on. I am so unhappy with these people. I am going to e-mail this new week and ask for my money back. I really don,t even want it now, the way they have treated everyone. I,ve got patiences, but this takes the cake!!!!
I agree, I am seriously thinking that they are never going to follow through. It's always some different excuse. My husband is guessing that they ran out of production money. This may not be the nicest thing to do but I have started aking publicly and expressing my frustration on their FB everytime they put out a new product announcement. They keep advertising the isomalt sticks but seriously, how am I supposed to use them without the gun (yes, I know I can melt and pour)??!! The customer service has been abhorent! If I dont have the product by then end of January ( the latest date quote) I am going to have the charge reversed on my credit card. I wish another company would come out with a similar product, as I would just purchase from them. Anything has to be better than this. I'm wary of the other products they offer because of this. It's absolutely disgusting.
BTW Icer, I love your shoe cake pic. I am getting ready to try one for the first time this week. Any tips?

Since they're flexible, you can bend it to make a "spout" as small as you need. When you're done, just let the isomalt cool, crunch the sides of the cup with your fingers, and dump the isomalt back into a baggie. Might work while you're waiting for your gun.
Well I believe I read that they are filling the ICES orders first so if anyone else ordered one from a second party..which I have ...I may get mine in 2013..Very disappointed!!
Just Got This Note From My Supplier
I know that everybody has been anxiously awaiting the Sassie Gun, and unfortunately, I have no new estimates at this point in time. I have been in touch with Get Sassie every week, and I do have a bit more information on why there has been such a delay. Before a manufacturing run goes out, Get Sassie receive a sample from the manufacturer. The sample they received has not perfect, and it had to go back to the manufacturers to re-make. They have had to do this a couple of times from what I understand. So rather than release an imperfect product, they have delay the release. They still have not received production run from the manufacturer yet. As soon I they have, they will let me know, and I will let all of you know.

Well, I'm glad to see this thread. I've been twiddling my thumbs here since October. I agree some isomalt sticks would certainly soothe my ruffled feathers.

I saw a decorator on TV use these to pour isomalt. Makes sense to me...and a lot cheaper!!

Be VERY CAREFUL using the silicone cups for melted isomalt -- they are flimsy by nature and you don't want a flimsy container to suddenly fold on you, spilling hot melted sugar all over you. I use a 1 Cup glass pyrex measuring cup -- works just the same and NO spillage issues.
Just thought others might like the latest update. I emailed the Get Sassie company AGAIN....and this was the reply....
"At this point we still have not received the Sugar Melting Guns into inventory. We are expecting them within the next few weeks and they will be shipped out immediately."
Anyone else have any more news regarding this?
I am definitely canceling my order and demanding a refund after the latest email I got after I suggested compensting/thanking us for our time and inconvenience through giving us some of the isomalt sticks when they do ship the gun. The answer from Beth to that request was a flat out no (despite the fact that Amy said they would do something via FB, when I askedabout his earlier),and it was a little terse with a deinitely snarky tone. I cannot believe the customer service with this company. They will never get another penny from me.
By the way, Beth also said orders placed now were hoping to be shipped by May...MAY!!!
Does a anyone have a variable heat glue gun and isomalt sticks you could try and give us feedback? I think this would be the perfect solution to make diamonds! They are so expensive, and I have a cake to do in October that is covered with them.
I have a very cheap variable heat gun and some cake play isomalt sticks. How are you thinking of making the diamonds. If you can give me some direction, I will try it.
I was thinking of getting the mold putty from Michael's, and a pack of crystals. Make the putty, then stick the tops of the crystals in, as many as you can til it sets up. Then put the sticks in the gun on low. I would turn it off when the sticks are melted, then back on if it starts stiffenening, to keep it from burning.
Oh, obviously, then you would put a dot of isomalt in the mold, then pop them out when they set. A little oil to make them shiny. Global Sugar Art sells diamond sugar studs that have round backs, they say they are better than the point ones. I'd love to try it myself, but I would have to buy everything.

I know that is not what the topic is completely about but i just made some gems and i want them to sparkle like real gems on white fondant. I tried putting silver highlighting powder (not luster dust), super pearl luster dust white glitter on the backs of them. the glitter gave it the best glimmer, but it still was not shiny enough. When i tried heating up the front of the gems to remove the very tiny bubbles it melted the facets. I used Pam on the side and rubbed the silicone mold with it (this was just to be on the safe side.)
I just purchased the ck gem molds for hard candy i will spray those as well but just by rubbing it on as to avoid the air from spraying it on it to avoid bubbles. I have heard that you can put they hard candy molds in the oven to help with the bubbles but i am not sure how that works does anyone else.
Know as far as the isomalt i have the bagged of sugar. I do have some sticks but i like the crystals of it mixed with distilled water it did really well with staying clear. so i have been experimenting with the sugar a little bit that's why this is all on here. i poured the extra sugar into silicone bowls so i can just remelt it in the microwave instead of purchasing more of the sticks. money saver i think i payed 5.00 or 6.00 for 1 lb of isomalt sugar, 12.00 for the sticks and there was not very much per stick.

Please, if you do try this be very very careful. Or better yet, don't try at all! A caker in my one of my cake groups had one explode on her. She ended up with 3rd degree burns on her arms and face. I have heard others have had similar experiences so please use caution. (This was not her first time using and speculation was it was due to uneven heating)
