Hi everyone, here's a cake I made for my daughter Shannon and her 2 cousins. We celebrated all the December b'days yesterday. I had a blast doing this. I don't know if I made it up or I have seen it somewhere. tee hee. I'm sure you all can relate.....I create, ice, etc. cakes at night in my sleep!!

It's a 10" chocolate w/chocolate ganache, butter cake w/strawberry filling and lemon poppyseed with lemon curd. A light buttercream frosting and then covered in fondant. I made the pink tips by mixing pink luster dust w/vodka and then painting on. I'm a beginner and have a long way to go, but I was pleased. Thanks for looking

Hi kcsmom98, it wasn't hard at all. I rolled out fondant and cut wavy strips w/a pizza cutter and glued them on w/ clear gel. Made the cakes on Saturday, got up early Sunday morning and put the strips on. Took about 3 hrs and still made it to church on time!!

So it's 3 10" cakes stacked? I'd love to be able to make something like this.

You may have started a trend lol

Whoops, sorry about my description. The bottom is 10" (made 1 10x3, split w/ganache as a filling), 2nd layer is 8" (made 1 8x3 and split w/strawberry buttercream as filling), 3rd layer is a 6x2 layer.

Covered all separately in fondant, stacked as usual w/dowels and then 1 long dowel through the center of all. Started at the top and worked my way down with the fondant strips. The strips got wider as I went down trying to make look as realistic as possible. After had dried for 1/2 hour or so, then painted the tips.

LisaMae, That's a stunning cake. You should try to have it published in one of the magazines like American Cake Decorating or Mail Box News. Go for it!
